Arroyo de la Miel

Settlements in this area date back to before the Romans but the area did not get its name until the 18th century when paper mills and sugar canes factories started up. Residue from the sugar cane process made the water sweet. So the the town was called Arroyo De La Miel  (Stream of honey). It has a railway station on the Malaga Fuengirola line. Now totally absorbed into Benalmadena it is impossible to know where Benalmadena ends and Arroyo De La Miel starts. Behind the station is Tivoli world, a children's amusement park and Teleferico a cable car that take you up the top of the mountain behind Benalmadena. There are many pedestrian zone's and plaza's full of bars and restaurants. A nice change to a day on the beach.
