Benalmadena Pueblo

Founded in the 8th century Benalmadena Pueblo is the jewel in the crown of Benalmadena. It retain's it's original white washed  buildings and is a real taste of yesterday's Spain. It could be compared with Mijas but without the high volume of tourists. The views are stunning making it a place worth visiting. The name Ben - Al - Madina which translates to Children of the mine was an iron ore mining village hence the name. Now days its just a sleepy village that has not felt the full impact of tourism, which makes this place special. At the centre is Plaza De Espana a beautiful square surronded by orange tree's. In the centre is a statue of La Nina who has become the symbol of the village sculptured by Jaime Pimentel. The church is stunning and one of the best examples in the Costa Del Sol. The gardens around the church are just as impressive and the views are breathtaking. The one thing you cannot fail to miss is the amount of colourful flowers everywhere it really brings the village to life.  There is a museum which houses a collection of Pre-Columbian artifacts from South America and local remains before the  Roman's arrived.
