Santa Maria La Mayor was built on the site of a mosque in the 14th century. It later became a Christian church after the Moors reign came to an end. The church is beautifully decorated inside and has the Pasos (huge floats) on display. The pasos are the statue's paraded around the town at Easter. The balcony outside was added to the church during the reign of Felipe ii for the gentry to watch tournaments in the plaza.
