Nochebuena(Good night) in Fuengirola. Every year on the 24th of December gatherings take place over the whole of Spain. Traditionally Spanish families get together over a feast of foods. In the evening in the town people gather at the metal cone shaped Christmas tree's to sing Christmas carol's until the early hours of the morning. Although Spain does not celebrate Christmas day Christmas is a beautiful time to be in Spain. The two main locations in Fuengirola are at the plaza Espana and Plaza San Rafael in Los Boliches.
Nochevieja(New years eve)Celebrated globally and the Costa del Sol is no exception. There are organized celebrations are in all the towns where at midnight the ritual of the 12 grapes starts. After every strike of the clock tower bell you eat a grape for good luck the following year. The main events are as follows: Malaga, Plaza de la Constitucion. Torremolinos, La Nogalera. Benalmadena, Plaza de la Mezquita & Plaza del Alguacil. Fuengirola, Plaza Espana. Marbella, Plaza lglesia de la Encarnicion. All of these events are accompanied with entertainment and music.
Christmas light switch on: All over the Costa del sol crowds gather for the annual Christmas lights The biggest being in Malaga and Marbella Malaga drawing the biggest crowds. The lights are switched on towards the end of November and the beginning of December. Then repeat there performances daily until they are switched off for the year most on the 6th January.
