Carnival de Malaga
Carnaval de Málaga in Malaga begins a week before lent so the starting date can vary from year to year. The carnival lasts six days and is packed with loads of fun activities mainly around the Plaza de la Constitucion. The carnival concludes with a procession through the streets of Malaga starting from Calle Marques de Larios. The processions centre piece is a large papier-mâché anchovy which makes its way to La Malagueta beach. Here the anchovy comes to an end with the ritual of the burial of the anchovy. The fish is set on fire and burnt. There is a large firework display after the burning and this marks the end of the carnival. This event attracts thousands of revellers each year and has become a big day in the Malaga diary. 2022 date is from 26-02-2022 to 06-03-2022
