It is also the route used by many visitors arriving from the cruise terminal as they make their way towards the city centre.

Muelle Dos is particularly enjoyable as part of a waterfront walk, with Muelle Uno, Málaga Park, La Farola and the historic centre all within easy reach. It is also a good place to escape the busier streets of central Málaga and enjoy some shade beneath the palm trees and pergola.

Muelle Dos is located in the Port of Málaga and is generally known today as the Palmeral de las Sorpresas. It runs alongside the southern edge of Málaga Park, between Muelle Uno and the cruise terminal.

Its position makes it an easy part of a walking route between Málaga's historic centre, port and waterfront attractions.

3. Opening Times

The Palmeral de las Sorpresas is a public waterfront promenade and can be enjoyed throughout the day.

The promenade is particularly pleasant during daylight hours, but it is also an attractive place for an evening walk when the port and surrounding buildings are illuminated.

Individual cafés, restaurants, attractions and other businesses in the area have their own opening times.

5. How to Get There

By train:
Take the Cercanías Málaga C1 line to Málaga Centro–Alameda station. From the station, the Palmeral de las Sorpresas is around a 15-minute walk through the city centre.

By bus:
Several Málaga city bus routes stop around Alameda Principal, Plaza de la Marina and Paseo del Parque. From these areas, the Palmeral is within easy walking distance.

On foot:
The Palmeral is particularly easy to reach from the historic centre. From Plaza de la Marina, walk towards the port and continue along the waterfront.

Muelle Dos can easily be combined with Muelle Uno, Málaga Cathedral, Alcazaba, Málaga Park, Calle Larios and the historic centre.

6. Parking

Parking is available in the surrounding port and city centre areas, although finding a convenient space can be difficult during busy periods.

The easiest option is usually to use one of the central underground car parks and walk to the Palmeral.

Muelle Uno has a large underground car park close to the waterfront, while other central parking options are available around Málaga Park and the historic centre.

7. Tips for Visiting

• Walk through the entire Palmeral rather than simply using it as a route between attractions.
• Take advantage of the shade provided by the large pergola during hot weather.
• Visit in the late afternoon when temperatures are more comfortable.
• Continue into Muelle Uno for restaurants, shops and the Centre Pompidou.
• Look across the harbour for views of the boats and cruise ships.
• Combine the Palmeral with a walk through Málaga Park.
• Continue towards La Farola for more waterfront views.
• It is a particularly pleasant area for families because of the open spaces and children's areas.
• Visit around sunset for a more relaxed atmosphere and attractive views across the port.

Our tip: Walk the Palmeral rather than simply passing through it. Start around Muelle Uno, follow the pergola towards the cruise terminal and then turn back towards Málaga Park and the historic centre. It gives you some of the best views of the port while providing a much more relaxed way to explore this part of Málaga.
