9. Overall Experience

Plaza Mayor is much more than a traditional shopping centre, offering visitors a combination of shopping, restaurants, entertainment and leisure in an open-air setting. Its location close to Málaga Airport and the excellent C1 train connection also make it particularly easy to reach.

The addition of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet makes the area even more attractive for shoppers, allowing visitors to combine mainstream shopping with designer and premium brands at outlet prices.

For tourists, Plaza Mayor is unlikely to replace Málaga's historic attractions, but it makes a good addition to a holiday when you want some time away from sightseeing. It is particularly useful on a hot afternoon, for shopping, or if you are staying near the airport or western side of the Costa del Sol.

Our tip: If shopping is your main reason for visiting, allow plenty of time to explore both Plaza Mayor and the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet. They are next to each other, but there is enough choice between the two to easily fill several hours.
