Avenida del Mar is a pedestrianised boulevard in the centre of Marbella, situated between the Old Town and the Mediterranean seafront.

The avenue is best known for its collection of sculptures by Salvador Dalí, which are displayed along the central walkway and create an unusual open-air art gallery in the heart of the town.

Lined with palm trees, fountains and benches, Avenida del Mar provides a pleasant connection between Marbella's historic centre and the beach. It is also surrounded by cafés, restaurants, shops and hotels, making it an easy place to include in a day exploring Marbella.

Its combination of public art, central location and easy access to the beach makes it one of Marbella's most recognisable pedestrian areas.

Avenida del Mar is located in central Marbella, immediately south of the Old Town and just a short walk from the Mediterranean.

There are no admission charges to walk along the avenue or view the sculptures.

Individual cafés, restaurants and businesses around Avenida del Mar have their own opening hours.

By car:
Avenida del Mar is in the centre of Marbella and can be reached from the main roads around the town. There is an underground pay car park directly beneath the avenue.

By bus:
Local buses serve central Marbella, with the main bus stops around the town centre within easy walking distance.

On foot:
Avenida del Mar is particularly easy to reach from Marbella Old Town. Walk south from the Old Town towards the sea and the avenue leads directly towards the promenade.

It can easily be combined with Plaza de los Naranjos, Marbella Old Town, Alameda Park, Marbella Marina and the beach.

6. Parking

One of the advantages of Avenida del Mar is that there is an underground pay car park directly beneath the avenue.

This makes it particularly convenient if you want to park close to the centre of Marbella and explore the Old Town, beach, marina and surrounding shopping streets on foot.

Parking in central Marbella can become difficult during busy periods, particularly during the summer, so the underground car park is a useful option for visitors who don't want to spend time searching for a space.

It is particularly easy to combine with a visit to the Old Town. You can explore the narrow streets around Plaza de los Naranjos, walk down towards Avenida del Mar, admire the sculptures and then continue across to the beach and promenade.

Our tip: Don't just walk through Avenida del Mar on your way to the beach. Stop and look at the Dalí sculptures — the avenue is effectively a free open-air art gallery in the centre of Marbella, and its convenient location means it takes very little effort to include it in your day.
