The Monday Outdoor Market is Marbella's main weekly general street market, attracting both local residents doing their weekly shopping and visitors looking for bargains and an authentic market experience.

The market is held in the Las Albarizas area, just outside the main tourist centre, and spreads across a large outdoor area with a wide variety of stalls.

It is particularly well known for its size and variety, with hundreds of traders offering food, clothing, footwear, household goods and other products.

For visitors, the market provides an opportunity to see a completely different side of Marbella — away from the Old Town, luxury boutiques and Puerto Banús.

2. Location & Address

The Monday market is held in the Las Albarizas area of Marbella.

The exact layout can vary, with stalls occupying the market area and surrounding streets.

It is approximately:

• 10–15 minutes' walk from Marbella Old Town
• 15 minutes' walk from Plaza de los Naranjos
• 20 minutes' walk from La Alameda

The market is close enough to the Old Town to combine the two, although most visitors will probably prefer to use transport or drive.

3. Opening Times

The Monday market is held:

Every Monday:
9:00am – 2:00pm

The official Marbella tourism information confirms the Monday market at Recinto Ferial Las Albarizas and lists its opening hours as 9:00am to 2:00pm. 

The market is an outdoor attraction and is not held every day.

As with most Spanish street markets, individual stalls may begin packing away before the official closing time.

4. What You'll Find at the Monday Market

The market offers a large mixture of goods, including:

• fresh fruit and vegetables
• olives and other food products
• spices
• clothing
• shoes
• handbags and accessories
• household goods

The fresh produce section is particularly interesting for visitors who want to see the sort of shopping many local residents do at the weekly market.

There is also plenty of clothing, footwear and household merchandise, so it is worth walking around the whole market before buying anything as prices and products can vary between stalls.

5. How to Get There

By car:
The market is in the Las Albarizas area, away from the narrow streets of the Old Town. Parking is available in the surrounding area, although it can become busy on Monday mornings.

By bus:
Local buses serve the surrounding Marbella area, with the market within walking distance of central bus routes.

On foot:
It is possible to walk from Marbella Old Town in around 10–15 minutes, making it an option if you're already staying in the centre.

The market can also be combined with a visit to Marbella Old Town, although I'd allow plenty of time if you want to explore both properly.

6. Parking

There is parking around the market, but Monday morning is one of the busiest times in the area, so finding a convenient space can take some patience.

If you're driving, arriving earlier gives you a better chance of finding somewhere close to the market.

7. Tips for Visiting

• Arrive early, particularly during the summer months.
• Allow at least 1–2 hours to explore the market properly.
• Walk around the whole market before deciding what to buy.
• Take cash as not every stall will accept cards.
• Keep an eye on your belongings when the market is particularly busy.

9. Overall Experience

Marbella's Monday Outdoor Market is a very different experience from the glamorous side of the resort and that is precisely what makes it interesting. It is busy, colourful and sometimes a little chaotic, but it gives visitors the chance to see Marbella as a working town rather than simply a holiday destination.

The sheer variety of stalls means there is something for most people, whether you're looking for fresh produce, clothing, shoes, household items or simply want to wander around and soak up the atmosphere.

Our tip: Don't visit expecting another tourist attraction — this is a proper local market. Come in the morning, take your time walking around the different sections and have a look at the prices before buying. If you're staying in Marbella, a Monday morning visit is a good way to see a completely different side of the town.
