Calle San Miguel is the main shopping street and one of the most important pedestrian areas in Torremolinos.

It has been the commercial and social heart of the town for many years and remains one of the busiest parts of the resort. Today, traditional shops sit alongside fashion stores, souvenir shops, cafés, restaurants, jewellery shops and tourist businesses. 

The street is pedestrianised for much of its length, making it a pleasant place to wander without having to worry about traffic.

Calle San Miguel also provides an important link between Plaza Costa del Sol and Cuesta del Tajo, with several other streets and squares branching off towards La Nogalera, Plaza de Andalucía and the beach.

Calle San Miguel runs through the centre of Torremolinos, between Plaza Costa del Sol and the area around Cuesta del Tajo.

There is no single attraction address as the street runs through the town centre.

It is approximately:

• 2 minutes' walk from Plaza Costa del Sol
• 5 minutes' walk from Torremolinos train station
• 5 minutes' walk from Plaza de Andalucía

Its central location makes it an excellent starting point for exploring Torremolinos.

3. Opening Times

Calle San Miguel is a public pedestrian street and can be visited:

24 hours a day

There is no admission charge.

Individual shops, cafés, bars and restaurants have their own opening times, with many staying open into the evening during the main tourist season.

The street can become particularly lively during evenings, weekends and local festivals.

4. What You'll Find Along Calle San Miguel

Calle San Miguel and the surrounding streets offer a mixture of shopping, food, entertainment and sightseeing, including:

5. How to Get There

By train:
Torremolinos railway station is only a few minutes' walk from Calle San Miguel. The station is served by the Cercanías Málaga C1 line, providing connections towards Málaga, the airport and Fuengirola.

By bus:
Several local bus routes serve central Torremolinos, with stops within easy walking distance of Calle San Miguel.

On foot:
Calle San Miguel is ideally located for exploring the town centre. From Plaza Costa del Sol, simply follow the pedestrianised street towards Cuesta del Tajo.

From the lower end of the street, you can continue towards Bajondillo Beach and the promenade.

6. Parking

Calle San Miguel itself is pedestrianised, so you cannot drive directly along the shopping street.

There are several parking options around central Torremolinos, allowing you to park and explore the area on foot.

If you're visiting for several hours, it is usually easier to park around the edges of the town centre rather than trying to find a space close to Calle San Miguel.

7. Tips for Visiting

• Walk the entire length rather than simply visiting one section.
• Explore the side streets as well as Calle San Miguel itself.
• Combine your visit with Plaza Costa del Sol.
• Continue down Cuesta del Tajo towards Bajondillo Beach.
• During September, look out for events connected with the Feria de San Miguel, when the town centre becomes particularly lively. 
• From Calle San Miguel you can easily reach La Nogalera, Plaza de Andalucía and the beach.

9. Overall Experience

Calle San Miguel is somewhere that almost every visitor to Torremolinos will pass through, and it is worth taking the time to explore rather than simply using it as a route to somewhere else.

It provides a good introduction to the modern side of Torremolinos, with shopping, restaurants and cafés, while the surrounding streets reveal more of the town's history and character. From here you can head towards La Nogalera, Plaza Costa del Sol or down Cuesta del Tajo towards the beach. 

The street is also a good example of how Torremolinos has changed from its origins as a small coastal settlement into one of the Costa del Sol's major tourist resorts.

Our tip: Don't just walk straight down Calle San Miguel looking at the shops. Take a few detours into the surrounding streets and plazas, then continue down Cuesta del Tajo towards Bajondillo Beach. That way you get to see much more of central Torremolinos and discover some of the smaller shops, street art and historic features that are easy to miss.
