Three Kings day: is celebrated all over Spain on the 5th & 6th of January. It is the first big event of the year. On the Costa del Sol it's no different. Three kings day is celebrated with a procession headed by the three kings moving slowly through the towns and villages at dusk on the 05th. The streets are lined with children waiting for sweets and treats thrown by the kings and there entourage as the parade goes by. The three kings have the ability to appear simultaneously all over Spain at the same time. Although this is a procession for children it's still great to be a part of. Later that night the children leave their shoe's out so they get presents when they wake up on the 6th. Below is a list of procession routes in the main resorts on the Costa del Sol. Three Kings Day (Día de los Reyes Magos) – Fuengirola

Three Kings Day, or Día de los Reyes Magos, is one of Spain's most magical and eagerly anticipated celebrations, especially for children. Held every year on the evening of 5th January, the event marks the arrival of the Three Wise Men – Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar – who, according to Christian tradition, brought gifts to the baby Jesus.

In Fuengirola, the celebrations begin with the spectacular arrival of the Three Kings before they take part in the Cabalgata de Reyes, one of the longest Three Kings parades in Andalusia. The colourful procession features beautifully decorated floats, music, entertainers and thousands of kilos of sweets thrown to the crowds, creating a wonderful family atmosphere. The parade travels through the town before finishing in Los Boliches, where thousands of people line the streets to welcome the Three Kings.

For Spanish families, this is the highlight of the Christmas season. Children traditionally leave food and water for the Three Kings and their camels on the night of 5th January, before waking on 6th January to discover the presents they have left.

Visitor Tips

Arrive at least an hour before the parade starts to secure a good viewing spot.
Families with young children should stand near the front, as the children are encouraged to collect the sweets.
Bring a bag if you want to collect some of the many sweets thrown during the parade.
Expect large crowds throughout the town, particularly in the town centre and Los Boliches.

Fuengirola: Starts at 4:00pm at Calle Mallorca, then on to Avenida de Mijas, Avenida Juan Gomez Juanito, Calle Camilo Jose Cela, Calle Molino de Viento, Avenida Condes de San Isidro, Avenida matias saenz de Tejada, Avenida Ramon y Cajal, Avenida de Los Boliches.
