 Information on the Jardin Botanico de Inka

1. Overview

Jardín Botánico Molino de Inca is a peaceful botanical garden located in the Los Manantiales area of Torremolinos, surrounded by pine trees and natural springs.

The garden was redeveloped in 2003 and covers more than 15,500 square metres, containing almost 1,000 species of plants, including around 150 varieties of palms, 300 trees and approximately 400 shrubs. 

The garden is built around the natural springs of Inca, La Cueva and Albercón del Rey, with water flowing through fountains, streams and small waterfalls throughout the grounds.

The site also has an interesting connection with the history of Torremolinos and its water-powered mills, including a replica of the historic Molino de Inca, a 17th-century hydraulic flour mill.

The botanical garden is located in the Los Pinares and Los Manantiales area, just outside the main town centre.

• 25 minutes' walk from Torremolinos town centre
• 10 minutes' walk from Aqualand Torremolinos
• 10 minutes' walk from Crocodile Park

The garden is surrounded by pine woodland and is close to several other attractions, making it possible to combine a visit with Aqualand or Crocodile Park.

Tuesday to Saturday:
11:30am – 2:00pm
6:00pm – 9:00pm

Monday: Closed
Sunday: Closed

4. What You'll Find Inside the Botanical Garden

The garden offers a mixture of plants, water features, wildlife and historic attractions, including:

The Japanese Garden covers around 500 square metres and is designed in the traditional Tsukiyama style, with rocky landscapes, hills and lakes. It provides a particularly peaceful section of the garden. 

Water is one of the defining features of the garden, with the natural springs still providing water for the streams and ornamental features.

There is also a bird exhibition on certain days, although this may be subject to booking or group arrangements. 

5. How to Get There

By car:
Driving is one of the easiest ways to reach the botanical garden. Follow the signs towards Los Pinares and Aqualand, with the garden located on Camino de los Pinares.

On foot:
The garden is around a 25-minute walk from central Torremolinos, although the route is uphill in places. It is also within walking distance of Aqualand and Crocodile Park.

By bus:
Local bus services operate in the surrounding area, although visitors should check the current routes and stops before travelling.

If you are visiting Aqualand or Crocodile Park, combining the attractions can make the journey worthwhile.

There is parking available at the botanical garden, making it a relatively convenient attraction to visit by car. 

This can be particularly useful during the hotter months when walking up from the town centre may not be particularly appealing.

7. Tips for Visiting

• Allow around 1–2 hours to explore the garden.
• Take your time around the Japanese garden.
• Look out for the natural springs and streams running through the grounds.
• Visit during the cooler part of the day in summer.
• Wear comfortable shoes as there are paths and some uneven areas.
• Take a camera as the gardens provide plenty of photographic opportunities.
• Combine your visit with Aqualand or Crocodile Park.
• If you enjoy gardens and nature, allow longer than an hour.

9. Overall Experience

Jardín Botánico Molino de Inca is one of those attractions that many visitors to Torremolinos overlook because it is away from the beaches and main tourist centre. That is actually part of its appeal. Once inside, the busy resort seems a long way away and the combination of water, trees, plants, birds and shaded paths creates a very different atmosphere.

The historic connection with Torremolinos' mills and natural springs also makes the garden more interesting than a conventional botanical garden. The Japanese garden is another highlight and provides a surprisingly tranquil corner of the complex. 

Our tip: If you're looking for something different from the beach, Molino de Inca is well worth considering, particularly if you are already visiting Aqualand or Crocodile Park. Go during the cooler part of the day, take your time walking around the gardens and don't miss the Japanese garden and the old mill. It is one of the quieter sides of Torremolinos that many holidaymakers never discover.
