1. Overview

The beaches and promenades are one of the main reasons people visit Torremolinos, stretching along almost seven kilometres of Mediterranean coastline.

The four main beaches are:

• La Carihuela
• El Bajondillo
• Playamar
• Los Álamos

Although they form one continuous stretch of coastline, each area has its own character.

La Carihuela is famous for its traditional chiringuitos, seafood restaurants and old fishing-village atmosphere, while Bajondillo is closest to the centre of Torremolinos. Playamar is popular for beach activities and its distinctive apartment buildings, while Los Álamos has a more modern and lively atmosphere, with beach clubs, watersports and nightlife. 

The promenades make it possible to explore much of the coastline on foot or by bicycle, with plenty of places to stop for food, drinks or a rest along the way.

2. Location & Address

The beaches stretch along the entire southern coastline of Torremolinos, from La Carihuela in the east to Los Álamos on the western side of the resort.

There is no single address for the beaches and promenades.

The coastline is easily reached from the town centre, with several access points leading down from Torremolinos to the sea.

3. Opening Times

The beaches and promenades are public spaces and can be enjoyed:

Every day:
24 hours a day

There is no admission charge.

Beach services such as lifeguards, sunbeds, watersports and beach restaurants have their own operating hours and may be seasonal.

Torremolinos' main beaches also have facilities designed for visitors with reduced mobility, including accessible access points and bathing assistance. 

4. What You'll Find Along the Beaches & Promenades

The Torremolinos coastline offers a mixture of relaxation, food, entertainment and watersports, including:

• wide sandy beaches
• long seafront promenades
• traditional chiringuitos
• seafood restaurants
• beach clubs
• cafés and bars
• sunbeds and parasols
• children's play areas
• beautiful Mediterranean views

La Carihuela is particularly well known for its seafood and traditional beach restaurants.

El Bajondillo is one of the most central beaches and is around one kilometre long, making it particularly convenient for visitors staying in the town centre. 

Playamar is popular for beach sports and watersports.

Los Álamos is the largest and most modern-feeling section, extending for more than 1.5 kilometres and offering beach clubs, restaurants, watersports and a lively atmosphere. 

5. How to Get There

By train:
Torremolinos is served by the Cercanías Málaga C1 railway line. Torremolinos station is convenient for reaching Bajondillo and the central beaches, while La Colina and Los Álamos stations are useful for reaching the western end of the coastline. 

By bus:
Local buses serve Torremolinos and the various areas around the coastline.

On foot:
From the town centre, you can walk down towards Bajondillo Beach and then follow the promenade along the coast.

The coastline can be explored in sections, making it easy to combine the beach with La Carihuela, Parque de la Batería, Casa de los Navajas and the town centre.

6. Parking

Parking is available in various areas around the beaches, although finding a space close to the seafront can become difficult during the busiest summer periods.

La Carihuela, Bajondillo and Playamar have a mixture of street parking and paid parking areas, while there are also larger parking options around the town.

Los Álamos has parking areas around the beach and promenade, although these can also become busy during the summer.

7. Tips for Visiting

• Walk part of the promenade rather than simply choosing one beach and staying there.
• Visit early in the morning for a quieter atmosphere.
• The evening is particularly enjoyable when the temperature drops and the restaurants become busy.
• Try a traditional seafood meal or pescaíto frito at one of the chiringuitos.
• La Carihuela is the place to go for the traditional Torremolinos atmosphere.
• Bajondillo is particularly convenient if you're staying in the town centre.
• Los Álamos is a good choice for beach clubs, watersports and a livelier atmosphere.

9. Overall Experience

The beaches and promenades are really the backbone of Torremolinos, linking together some of the resort's most popular areas. You can spend the morning on the beach, stop for lunch at a chiringuito, walk along the promenade in the afternoon and finish the day with a drink overlooking the Mediterranean.

What makes the coastline particularly interesting is that it isn't all the same. La Carihuela feels traditional, Bajondillo is central and convenient, Playamar is popular for activities, and Los Álamos has a more modern beach-club atmosphere.

Our tip: Don't just pick the beach nearest your hotel and stay there for your entire holiday. Walk the promenade and explore the different sections of Torremolinos' coastline. The atmosphere changes considerably as you move from La Carihuela through Bajondillo and Playamar towards Los Álamos, and you'll discover restaurants, beach bars and parts of the resort that you might otherwise miss.
