More information on Parking in San Pedro
1. Overview
San Pedro de Alcántara offers a variety of parking options serving the town centre, beachfront, and residential areas. Unlike some of the busier Costa del Sol resorts, visitors can often find free parking within walking distance of the main attractions. The two most popular parking areas are around the Boulevard in the town centre and along the promenade near the beach.
2. Parking Around the Boulevard
The Boulevard is one of the best places to park when visiting San Pedro.
Visitors will find numerous free parking spaces in the streets surrounding the boulevard, providing easy access to:
- San Pedro Old Town
- Plaza de la Iglesia
- Shops and restaurants
- The Boulevard itself
Many visitors use this area as their base when exploring the town centre on foot.
3. Parking Near the Promenade
Several parking areas are located close to the promenade and beach.
These are ideal for visitors wanting easy access to:
- The beachfront restaurants
- The promenade
- Children's play areas
- Beach clubs and chiringuitos
- Cycling and walking routes
Parking is generally easier to find outside the peak summer season, although spaces can still usually be found with a short walk.
4. Town Centre Parking
In addition to the boulevard area, there are various parking opportunities throughout the town centre.
Options include:
- On-street parking
- Small public parking areas
- Limited spaces near the main shopping streets
As with most Spanish towns, it is important to check local signs and parking restrictions before leaving your vehicle.

General rules to street parking on the Costa Del Sol
A few years ago most parking in the Costa Del Sol was mostly free but that has now changed. There is still free parking available in most towns but you have to be careful. If you do get a parking ticket it can be paid at most ticket machines and you may get a 20% discount for prompt payment. If you are driving a hire car and get a ticket it will catch up with you which ever country you live in. Most towns have a free car park but finding them is not easy. Fairgrounds and bullrings tend to have the best free parking but thats not guaranteed. Below are 3 simple signs to watch out for when street parking but this is only a guide so be careful there are some rules that only local residents can know. The guide was correct at the time of publishing 2024 and is periodically checked so make sure it is still free if you park there, this website will not be held responsible for any parking violation's.

White lines
Parking spaces either with white painted bays or white lines generally means free parking. But read the third rule below.

Blue & green lines
Parking spaces either with blue or green painted bays or lines generally means it is paid parking with a time limit. There will be a pay meter near by again read the third rule below.

Yellow zig zag lines
Parking spaces with a yellow zig zag line means that there is a restriction to parking there and there will be a sign to explain. It can mean many things from disabled parking to only parking at certain times of the day to taxi's only. So find out the restriction before parking there. The yellow zig zag line can be on free or pay parking zones.
