Welcome to the Ruta de Murals in Estepona

The Ruta de los Murales (Murals Route) is one of Estepona's most unique attractions, transforming ordinary buildings into giant works of art. Spread throughout the town, these large-scale murals have helped earn Estepona a reputation as one of Spain's leading open-air art galleries, offering visitors a completely different way to explore the resort.

1. Overview

The Ruta de los Murales is an ongoing public art project that has transformed many of Estepona's apartment blocks and buildings into enormous murals. Created by both Spanish and international artists, these artworks cover entire building facades and can be found throughout the town. The route combines art, culture, and sightseeing, encouraging visitors to explore parts of Estepona they might otherwise overlook.

2. Location & Address

The murals are spread across various neighbourhoods of Estepona rather than being located in one specific area.

Many of the most famous works can be reached on foot from the Old Town, Orchidarium, and town centre.

Address: Various locations throughout Estepona, Málaga, Spain.

3. Opening Times & Accessibility

The murals are outdoor public artworks and can be viewed 24 hours a day, free of charge.

Most locations are accessible via public pavements and pedestrian streets, making the route suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and pushchairs, although some areas involve longer walking distances.

4. Parking

Several convenient parking areas can be used when exploring the mural route.

Popular options include:

  • Parking near the Orchidarium
  • Parking around the Bullring
  • Town centre parking areas

Many visitors park once and explore multiple murals on foot.

5. How to Get There

By Car:
Several parking areas are available throughout Estepona, with the Orchidarium area providing a good starting point.

By Bus:
Local bus services stop throughout the town centre.

On Foot:
The best way to experience the murals is by walking between them and discovering the surrounding streets and neighbourhoods.

6. Featured Murals

"Día de Pesca" (Fishing Day)

Location: Avenida Andalucía

One of Estepona's most famous murals, depicting a young boy looking out over the sea. The artwork covers an entire building and creates a striking visual effect that changes depending on where it is viewed from.

"La Regadera" (The Watering Can)

Location: Calle Terraza area

A giant mural showing a woman watering flowers, perfectly reflecting Estepona's reputation as the Garden of the Costa del Sol. It is one of the most photographed murals in the town.

"Madre Amorosa" (Loving Mother)

Location: Near Avenida Juan Carlos I

A huge and highly detailed mural portraying a mother and child, demonstrating the scale and quality of the artwork that can be found throughout the route.

7. What to Expect On Site

Visitors will find:

  • Large-scale murals covering entire buildings
  • A mixture of artistic styles and themes
  • Excellent photography opportunities
  • Residential neighbourhoods showcasing local life
